As you’re petting another dog, do you ever wonder what your dog is thinking? Does he feel anything as he watches you love on another dog?

Recent studies by Dr. Christine Harris, a UC San Diego emotion researcher, show that dogs do in fact care. They used a stuffed dog that did real actions, such as wagging it’s tail, to grab the real dog’s attention. It was found that 72% of dogs expressed jealous behavior, including pushing the owner and acting aggressive toward the fake dog.

There is said to be a theory that as dogs evolved with humans that gave them high amounts of attention, they adapted these habits.

A way to help the attention seeking problem is simple: don’t give it the attention it want. The pet will soon realize that pushing or nagging their owner isn’t getting them anywhere.
